Chief Executive Officer
Mike Cunningham is the founder and CEO of Crosslake Fibre and has over 16 years experience in the telecommunications and investment industries. Mr. Cunningham is also on the board of Quintillion Subsea, a 1700 mile subsea and terrestrial cable system serving the north coast of Alaska. Previously, he was CEO Arctic Fibre, the predecessor company to Quintillion. He holds a BA, Honors from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Finance degree from Queen’s University, and holds the Canadian Investment Manager’s designation from the Canadian Securities Institute.
Senior Vice President
Fergus Innes is Senior Vice President of Crosslake Fibre. Prior to Crosslake, Mr Innes spent 8 years as Regional Vice President, EMEA and Executive Management Team member at Hibernia Networks where he built and lead the EMEA Carrier, Finance & Media business until the successful exit to GTT for $590m in January 2017. Prior to joining Hibernia Networks in 2009, Mr Innes worked for Colt, where he spent 8 years in a number of senior management roles. These included four years at Colt Ireland as Sales Director where he oversaw the migration from Colt’s country management operation to a centralised Business Enterprise Unit. Before Colt, he held senior positions at Cable & Wireless, Telia Sonera and IT&T Communications. Mr. Innes holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems and a Diploma in Business Studies from the University of Hull.
Chief Financial Officer
Joseph Ciavarella was named Chief Financial Officer of Crosslake Fibre in June 2019. Most recently, he had been providing senior financial consulting services to corporations acting as chief financial officer and providing other financial, tax and human resources related work since 2013 in telecom, telecom construction, cloud computing, health care and biotech. Prior to 2013, Mr. Ciavarella served, from 2007-2012, originally as a consulting CFO and from March 2008, as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of AboveNet, Inc., then a publicly traded provider of high bandwidth infrastructure services which was successfully sold to Zayo Group in 2012. Mr. Ciavarella served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Langer, Inc., a provider of custom orthotic devices, related orthopedic and skin care products, from 2004 to 2006 and from 2002 to 2004, Mr. Ciavarella was the Chief Financial Officer of New York Medical, Inc., a medical practice management company. Prior to that, he was in the financial services industry: from 1998 through July 2002, he was Senior Vice President – Finance of Aviation Capital Group, an independent aircraft leasing and finance company that was formed out of Integrated Resources Inc. and which raised and invested over $1B in capital and debt, including $687M through an asset securitization before it was successfully sold to Pacific Life Insurance Company. From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Ciavarella was Chief Financial Officer in the alternative investment division of PaineWebber, Inc. and, from 1983 to 1993, was Corporate Vice President of Integrated Resources, Inc. (and Chief Financial Officer of its equipment leasing and alternative investment divisions). He began his career at Touche Ross & Co. (now Deloitte, LLP) in 1977. Mr. Ciavarella received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York, in 1977, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Vice President, Operations
Jeff Edward is Vice President, Operations of Crosslake Fibre. Mr. Edward is responsible for overseeing all areas of operations at Crosslake Fibre including network monitoring and maintenance, construction, planning, customer care and technical support. He brings over 25 years of experience managing operations in the wireless, data centre, telecom and data networking industries. Mr. Edward has held senior positions at Cogeco Data Services (Cogeco Peer1), TeraGo Networks, American Express, Group Telecom, Telesystem International Wireless and most recently at Pathway Communications. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, with a focus on Environmental Business Management from the University of Waterloo.
